The documents come from Barclays Bank, acquired by the spanish bank CaixaBank at the end of last year. Technological partners of Serimag also participated, such as Indra BPO and Abbyy.
Abbyy has announced that CaixaBank, the country’s third-largest bank, has chosen its FineReader Engine solution for a new project to digitize 25 million documents from Barclays Bank, acquired late last year by La Caixa. Barclays will use the software development kit (SDK) for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and to digitally store customer and business document data, and Serimag Media TAAD software for automated document classification.
“We have previously evaluated a large number of options on the market and chose to use Abbyy’s text recognition technology to digitize our documents because of its high percentage of accuracy and adaptability to a wide range of document types,” explained Jorge Cortada, Director of BPO technology at CaixaBank.
“To get help in developing a complete solution and in delivering this project, we went to two of our technology partners, Indra BPO and Serimag Media, both experts in image processing and document process automation. Due to the good experience gained, we are currently evaluating future projects in which we could use other ABBYY OCR technologies, such as mobile document capture technology”, adds Cortada.
