In recent times we have witnessed the explosion of a technology such as Artificial Intelligence. The increased computing power and the refinement of algorithms with years of study behind them, have enabled a world of new possibilities for these systems to allow a qualitative leap in many areas and a clear competitive advantage among companies.
However, this technological tsunami in which many companies are venturing contrasts with data provided by a study conducted in 2021 by Gartner. It indicates that only 53% of projects go from prototypes to production. Little more than half of the projects achieve the goals and objectives set by the companies.
What is the reason for this lack of success?
The study points to the difficulty IT managers face when it comes to scaling these systems, where a lack of tools or knowledge prevents them from going into production. As Erick Brethenoux, research vice president at Gartner, points out, the biggest mistake is in the search for the desiredunicorns. AI talent is an accurate combination of skills in different areas, ranging from IT to business.
At Serimag we are aware of this fact and we agree on the need to count on true specialists with proven experience to successfully carry out a project. In the specific sector of document processing, as is our case, we have been developing and putting into production the TAAD system for almost 10 years. A complete and mature Artificial Intelligence system with billions of pages processed in the last years and almost a hundred projects put into production with a resounding success and high degree of customer satisfaction.
We are one of the leading companies for automated document processing, being a key supplier for the most important financial institutions in Spain such as CaixaBank, BBVA or Santander. And it is not trivial to have not only this experience and customers, but also agreements with leading research centers in their areas of research in Artificial Intelligence to improve our technology. In addition to having a deployment structure with more than 2,000 processing units in different locations for greater security.
Facing an Artificial Intelligence project requires good planning, both in the choice of the most appropriate technology for each case, as well as the team that will carry out its development, implementation and start-up. The success of the project will largely depend on it.
